About Municipal library Dobruška

Municipal library in Dobruška is situated not very far from the square of F. L. Věk in the building of the former heat exchanger. Its running started here after nearly two years of renovation of the existing space on 1^st March 2002.

The organizer of the library is Town Dobruška. The municipal library is together with other four centres (Information centre, Cultural house, Social centre - Cinema 70, Museum of local history) part of the organizational unit "Cultural facilities of the Town Dobruška".

Services of the library

There are more than 33 000 books in the fund of the library, more than 60 titles of the magazines are subscribed every year, the library has about 1 300 registered readers. The running of the library is provided by four employees in two reading departments - for adults and for children and young people up to 15 years and there is one employee, who takes care of the regional functions for 19 village libraries.

In the foyer of the library, which was build as a lecture room, there is each month installed a new exhibition, there are cultural and education events held here (e.g. exhibition openings, lectures, discussions, author readings, programmes for children). Dobrušska library is regularly involved in the national projects - March - Month of readers, Night with Andersen, First passing of the first-graders to readers, Week of libraries, Day for a children's book or Day of poetry.

There is a data projector with a projection screen available here. Every week the visitors can see the new broadcast of the town cable television. In the section for adults it is possible, apart from borrowing books, magazines and newspapers, to borrow the reading glasses or baskets for books. The library offers delivery of the books to a house for elderly, handicapped and chronically ill inhabitants. There is an original painting on the walls in the children's section, playing corner with plenty of toys, games and stuffed animals, where children can play on the large mattress.

The services of the library are constantly enlarged and modernized. The Dobruška library functions as the public internet station. There are seven computers connected to the Internet available and there is also a possibility of using the wireless connection (WiFi) with own PC. Of course there is a possibility of printing applications, downloading data from PC and copy services.

Departmental and regional functions

The library of the town Dobruška is not responsible for the regional library functions. These tasks are procured by a worker of the Municipal library in Rychnov nad Kněžnou, on the basis of the order of the regional services, at the workplace in Dobruška. From its own resources the library provides only services for the departmental libraries for circuit of 19 village libraries (Bačetín, Bílý Újezd, Bohdašín, Bystré, Byzhradec, Deštné v Orlických horách, Dobré, Dobřany, Hlinné, Hroška, Chlístov, Janov, Kamenice, Kounov, Ohnišov, Podbřezí, Rovné, Sedloňov and Val).
